The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission has placed Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on the spot over the running of her government.

In a letter dated October 19, the anti-corruption commission raised issues ranging from conflict of interest, nepotism to irregular appointments among others.

The EACC, for instance, fingered the county boss for allegedly directing county employees to participate in furthering the interests of Baite TV.

"It is alleged that you have directed county employees to participate in furthering the interests of Baiter TV, a media station allegedly owned by your spouse Murega Baicu," the letter stated.

Further, the governor was faulted for imploring county employees to promote political activities on social media failure for which they face a sack.

The Governor is also accused of failing to protect public resources at the Meru Teaching and referral hospital.

'It is alleged that you have directed the Meru Teaching and referral hospital to spend all income at source contrary to article 207 of the constitution and section 109 (2) of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012," stated the EACC letter.

In a case of nepotism, Mwangaza allegedly appointed her spouse to a public office as County Youth Patron and hustler's ambassador.

The hubby is also said to be attending county meetings and even issuing directives to county employees. It is not clear whether he is a public officer.

"It is further reported that you have appointed two of your sisters to public office, one as your personal assistant and the other as one of your security personnel," EACC added.

Mwangaza is also accused of irregular recruitment of Hillary Mutuma Sandi, acting director of communication, in a manner that did not follow the laid down public service recruitment regulation.

It is also reported that the county cleaners were recruited through a public declaration in contravention of the law and recruitment guidelines.

The administrator has been facing a hard time after members of the county assembly walked out on her as she was giving her speech during the opening of the Meru county assembly.
