Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet secretary nominee Aisha Jumwa has revealed that her net worth is only Sh100 million.

The former Malindi MP disclosed the information when being vetted by the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments.

"I own two houses , one in Malindi and Nairobi amounting to Sh85 million the rest are side hustles," Jumwa said.

Her appointment to the position has attracted a backlash from a section of Kenyans and the opposition with integrity concerns expected to feature prominently during vetting.

Last week, the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew a Sh19 million graft case against the former legislator.

Jumwa, however, is not yet off the hook as she faces murder charges alongside her bodyguard in another case where they are accused of killing Gumbao Jola in Ganda in 2019.

The Kenya Kwanza camp has maintained that the cases plaguing the nominees were politically instigated by the previous regime.

DPP Haji dropped the charges after defence lawyers asked for a review of the file.

So far, only one witness has testified against Jumwa before Mombasa Chief magistrate Martha Mutuku.

Jumwa, who failed to clinch the Kilifi gubernatorial seat at the August polls had been accused of embezzling Sh19 million from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

She was charged alongside six others among them the Malindi CDF Account Manager, Wachu Omar Abdalla.

They faced various offences including forgery and fraud in procurement and abuse of office.
