Highway to face Kisumu Day in national semis

Nairobi representatives Highway will face Kisumu Day in a scintillating semifinal clash of the Kenya Secondary Schools national championships at Nakuru High School on Sunday.

Surprise packages Kabarnet from Baringo and Ebwali from Western will lock horns in the other match.

Highway got off their campaign to a flying start with a 6-0 thumping of Bute from North Eastern on Friday morning. They went ahead and  thrashed Mbooni from Eastern 3-0 later in the day.

The South B-based school advanced to the semis despite their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Ebwali on Saturday after sealing the second spot in their pool.

Kisumu Day posted mixed results on the first day of the competition where they outwitted Coastal representatives Serani 3-1 before succumbing 2-0 to Kabarnet in the afternoon.

They, however, bounced back strongly on Saturday to wallop Olobolsat 6-0.

Ebwali similarly took off on a high note, making light work of Mbooni whom they humbled 6-1 in their opening match on Friday.

The western representatives who earned a lifeline after lodging a successful appeal against Friends School Bukembe, went on a goal-scoring spree.

They pumped seven unanswered goals past a hapless Bute and emphatically closed their group stage campaign with a 3-1 win over Highway on Sunday.

After pulling off a major upset to dethrone defending champions St. Anthony's Kitale in the Rift Valley regional finals, Kabarnet announced their presence on the national stage with a slim 1-0 win over Olbolosat.

The Baringo lads later pulled off another major upset against Kisumu Day to collect a comfortable 2-0 win but faded off to share spoils with Serani after playing out a one-all draw.

Wiyeta will flex muscles with Itigo in an all-Rift semifinal while Nairobi representatives Dagoretti Mixed have a date with Mwira in the other match.
