IG Mutyambai commends Kenyans for being peaceful

He said that Kenyans have generally maintained law and order since August 9.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has lauded Kenyans for maintaining peace before, during and after general elections.,

In a statement on Monday, NPS inspector general Hillary Mutyambai said that Kenyans have generally maintained law and order since August 9.

He said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has discharged its mandate in declaring the presidential, gubernatorial, parliamentary and county assembly results.

Mutyambai  urged Kenyans to maintain peace and observe law and order even after today's declaration of the presidential results.

"Elections are seasonal, while Kenyans must endure for eternity. They are not meant to divide or tear us apart," he said.

Mutyambai urged Kenyans to remain together in unity peace and liberty.

The statement by Mutyambai comes after the IEBC declared William Ruto as the President-elect.

Ruto beat his fierce rival Raila Odinga of the Azimio coalition to be the fifth president designate of the Republic of Kenya.
