Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati has assured Kenyans that the results transmission system has been configured to send the results only once.

In a press briefing on Tuesday night, Chebukati said there is only one QR code configured to a specific polling station.

"You can not scan results from a different polling station, once you scan the final results, no one can scan it again," the chairman said.

He said those allowed to stay in the polling station to count are the observers, polls officials and the media.

"No one is allowed to stay at the station unless authorised, and they are the only people allowed to take pictures of Form 34 A," he said.

Chebukati said the results announced at the polling station are final and cannot be manipulated.

The National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya was all set for results as they started streaming in after polling stations closed at 5pm.

Diplomats, election observers, presidential candidates, political parties, observers and IEBC staff are present during the tallying.

The electoral agency chairman said his job at the commission is to ensure they deliver credible results.

“We have given it our all and we have done what the law requires. When we took up this assignment, we knew we were going to serve the IEBC.” Chebukati said.
