VIDEO: Bullets fired as chaos erupt at Eldas tallying center

A chaotic incident has erupted at the Eldas constituency tallying centre in Wajir county.

The chaotic incident happened at the area CDF hall which has been turned into a tallying centre.

No person or vehicles are allowed in or out of the centre.

Video seen and verified by the Star showed people scampering for safety as police try to take control of the situation.

During the standoff, numerous gunshots are heard renting the air.

The Star has established that the chaos erupted after supporters of two opposing MP candidates clashed.

Sources told this writer that there is tension in the area. With polls scheduled to begin at 6am, it is not clear yet whether the chaos will affect the voting exercise.

Police and the IEBC were yet to comment on the incident by the time of going to press. We commit to providing their comment on the matter as soon as possible.

The chaotic incident comes hours before Tuesday's general elections where Kenyans will be electing new leaders.
