Mwingi pupil tops Kitui with 422 marks in KCPE

Fourteen-year-old Victor Saa Kimanzi emerged top in Kitui county after scoring 422 marks in the 2021 KCPE exam.

Kimanzi, who schooled at Precious Moment School in Nguni, Mwingi East, was position 38 nationwide.

He said he wants to join Kapsabet Boys High School and would like to pursue a career in engineering.

The pupil spoke to the Star on Monday after the results were released by Education CS George Magoha.

Peace Pendo Cornelius, who was second in the school scored 412 marks.

She said she would like to join Moi Girls High School, Eldoret and become a surgeon.

Pendo said she was grateful to God, teachers and parents.

"It took hard work, prayers and support from teachers and my parents to score the marks I got," she said .

Karuku Nancy Mumbua who scored 411 marks said it is a big day for her as she celebrates her win.

She said she would like to join Pangani Girls High School and become a scientist.

The proprietor of the school, Theophilus Mutuku, said nine pupils scored more than 400 marks with the lowest mark being 335.

He said the school had a mean score of 385.8 up from last year's 366. 

Mutuku said the teachers did their best to deliver the results.

"We do not do things casually, we go the extra mile and that's why we have gotten good results," he said.

Kitui TSC director Suleiman Odipo said Precious Moment School has over the years been leading in KCPE lauding the staff and pupils for their hard work.

He said stakeholders in Mwingi East should work together to boost the education sector.

Odipo also said there hasn't been any exam cancellation in the ongoing KCSE exam.

"This assures us that every stakeholder involved in the exam did their part well and this will result in good performance," he said.
