In Summary

•It is what has exercised power barons minds for long, prompted by the real fear of propping a stillbirth in their quest to succeed themselves.

•Many of the past plans have floundered making the next moves more interesting.

ODM leader Raila Odinga addresses a gathering in Laikipia, Sunday, September 26, 2021.

The scheming for the 2022 elections started much earlier than many Kenyans can fathom.

Keen observers will recall the events following President Uhuru's inauguration.

However much they were disguised as unity bids the intentions were pretty obvious.

In between, blunders were being made by those who felt closer to power and everything that could help weaken those unwanted in the scheme of things were tried.

Many failed while others have been counterproductive.

In retrospect, it's this sequence of events by the state and those controlling the ruling Jubilee party that birthed the early campaigns we have been witnessing but as usual, Kenyans will feign ignorance.

No politician worth a mention will keep quiet as opponents plot to annihilate them.

The handshake was on face value a noble move but the activities that followed soon pointed to highly suspicious schemes.

When ambitions are disguised and clothed under populist agenda then only the passage of time can reveal the true intentions.

Defections back and forth have started and they will show us what worked or failed.

The Friday ODM event dubbed Azimio la Umoja will confirm the obvious-another Raila run and fifth stab at the presidency.

It is what has exercised power barons minds for long, prompted by the real fear of propping a stillbirth in their quest to succeed themselves.

Everything is conscripted to make them appear different this time round given the past failed bids.

Many of the past plans have floundered making the next moves more interesting.
