The mother of two men who were killed alongside their two friends last week arrived in Kenya from the UK on Sunday morning.
Lucy Wanjiru, the mother of Fredrick Mureithi and Victor Mwangi, had travelled abroad in search of greener pastures in 2018 after her businesses failed.
Friends and relatives who converged at the airport to receive her joined in grieving the loss as Wanjiru burst into tears.
A heartbroken Wanjiru, who was a single mother, was overcome with grief as she said, “What have I done my Lord to deserve this. How have I wronged you Lord to deserve losing my beloved children...?”
Her knees gave way to weakness several times as she was escorted to a waiting car that would take her to her home in Syokimau, Machakos county.
However, Wanjiru told her brother, Joseph Macharia, she would not go to the house as it would remind her of her children.
Wanjiru was taken elsewhere to rest before going to Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital mortuary, where her children’s bodies have been kept awaiting burial.
Macharia, said burial will take place in Leshau Pondo, Mayu village, in Nyahururu on Friday or Saturday.
Meanwhile, Isinya OCPD Charles Chepkonga told the Star on Sunday investigations are still ongoing.
“We have not arrested anyone so far but our DCI officers are on the ground trying to unravel the murders,” said Chepkonga.
He said the police cannot arrest people based on “hearsay” before investigating the matter fully.
“Let us leave investigators to do their job professionally. They will get to the bottom of that matter. This is a high profile case which should be established, investigated and arrests made,” he said.
The two other men killed alongside Mureithi and Mwangi were Mike Onduso and his worker, Nicholas Musa.
Onduso will be buried on Thursday in Kisii, while Musawill be buried on August 21 in Ukambani.
The four were killed in Kitengela on Sunday evening as they went to look for food for supper when residents mistook them for livestock thieves.
