A new report released on July 14, 2026, by the Kofi Annan Foundation has raised serious concerns regarding Kenya's stability, ranking the country second on a global list of democracies most vulnerable to electoral violence.
According to the "Electoral vulnerability index 2026-2027," Kenya holds a high Risk Index score of 43.9. The data reveals a staggering 81.6 per cent predicted likelihood of violence and a 75.4 per cent probability of severe violence.
Kenya is only surpassed by Nigeria, which tops the list. Other highly ranked nations include Fiji, Mongolia, and Guatemala.
The findings underscore an urgent need for proactive measures and electoral reforms to safeguard the nation from political instability in the upcoming electoral period.
