Kenya recorded a trade deficit with the United States in goods in 2025, according to data from the US Census Bureau.
Total exports to the US between January and November stood at $788.6 million, while imports reached $930.8 million, resulting in a trade gap of $142.2 million in favour of the US.
Monthly figures show fluctuating performance. Kenya posted trade surpluses in January ($5.7 million), May ($1.5 million), June ($5 million), August ($2.2 million) and September ($24.3 million).
However, significant deficits were recorded in March (-$64.9 million) and April (-$53 million), widening the overall gap.
Exports peaked in September at $93.9 million, while imports were highest in April at $133.3 million.
The data highlights an uneven trade pattern throughout the year, with stronger US import flows outweighing Kenya’s export earnings in goods trade during the period under review.
