Physical location of newly created Nairobi county boroughs

Nairobi county has recently established six boroughs—Central, Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern, and South Eastern—to improve service delivery and bring governance closer to residents.

Each borough, managed by a Borough Manager, will have its own budget and development plan.

The boroughs group Nairobi’s 17 subcounties; for example, the Northern Borough includes Kasarani, Roysambu, and Ruaraka.

The county has allocated about Sh 400 million for infrastructure and the initial set-up of these boroughs.

This decentralisation aims to make services such as garbage collection, road maintenance, and water supply more efficient and locally responsive, enhancing overall urban management.
