Drinking raw milk poses serious health risks because it can contain harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and Campylobacter.
These pathogens can cause severe foodborne illnesses leading to vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and, in extreme cases, kidney failure or death.
Pregnant women, young children, the elderly and people with weakened immunity are especially vulnerable.
Pasteurisation — heating milk to kill bacteria — does not reduce nutritional value but makes it safe for consumption.
Consuming unpasteurised milk therefore exposes you to preventable infections without offering any proven health benefits.
