Pension coverage in Kenya has shown significant growth over the years.
The percentage of the workforce with pension benefits increased from 15% in June 2000 to 26% in June 2024.
This expansion is reflected in the number of employers offering pension plans, which has tripled from about 1,200 in the year 2000 to over 3,400 in 2025.
Consequently, the number of Kenyans with pension accounts has now reached 7.5 million, indicating a substantial rise in formal retirement planning across the country.
