Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula presented Ida Odinga with a bound collection of Raila Odinga’s parliamentary Hansard, capturing his words, motions, and debates throughout his political career.
The handover took place during Raila’s funeral mass at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) in Bondo.
The Hansard chronicles Raila’s journey from Member of Parliament to Prime Minister between 2008 and 2013, offering an official record of his contributions to Kenya’s legislative history.
Wetang’ula described the document as a “national treasure,” honouring Raila’s lifelong commitment to democracy, justice, and the nation’s progress.
By presenting the volume to Ida, Parliament sought to symbolise its role in preserving national memory and paying tribute to one of Kenya’s most influential leaders.
Ida thanked Parliament for what she termed a “priceless national gift,” noting that future generations would learn from Raila’s words and struggles.
The Hansard will be archived in Parliament and the Kenya National Archives, ensuring that Raila’s legacy as a statesman and reformist remains accessible to the public and continues to inspire conversations on governance and leadership.
