Tero Buru is a Luo post-burial rite performed after burial, often the following day, to mark the end of mourning and cleanse the home.

Led by elders, a bull is driven around the homestead as a symbol of strength, leadership, and the spirit of the departed.

Through songs, drums, and dance, the community blends grief with celebration, sending off the spirit and restoring harmony.

The ritual unites elders, men, and families in a shared expression of honour, unity, and continuity—a powerful affirmation of life even in the face of loss.
