World Teachers’ Day is marked every year on October 5 to celebrate the role of teachers in shaping education and society.
The day was established in 1994 by UNESCO in partnership with the International Labour Organization, UNICEF and Education International.
It commemorates the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers, a key framework that outlines teachers’ rights and responsibilities.
The day is observed worldwide with events, conferences and campaigns promoting investment in teachers and quality education.
