Kenya’s electricity consumption per capita has steadily increased between 2020 and 2024, reflecting growth in access to energy and rising demand.

According to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), per capita consumption rose from about 243 kWh in 2020 to nearly 270 kWh in 2024.

This upward trend highlights ongoing efforts to expand the power grid, improve reliability, and meet the needs of households, businesses, and industries.

Electricity per capita measures the average amount of electricity consumed per person annually, and Kenya’s progress underscores the country’s strides toward greater energy access and economic development.
