The Kenyan mobile broadband subscriptions market exhibits an extremely high concentration, with Safaricom maintaining an overwhelming dominance.
For the second quarter of 2025, Safaricom commanded an immense market share of 62.8%.
This figure underscores its established position as the primary provider of high-speed mobile internet access, which includes 3G, 4G, and 5G networks.
Safaricom's closest competitor, Airtel, holds a much smaller but still significant share of 33.2%, consolidating the duopoly that characterises the sector.
The remaining operators are left to compete for a very small fraction of the total market. Telkom follows in third place with a 1.2% share, while Jamii and Finserve hold negligible positions at 1.6% and 1.1% respectively.
