    China is set to host the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, marking the fifth time the country will host the annual gathering.

    The summit, chaired by President Xi Jinping, is expected to be the largest in SCO’s 24-year history.

    Leaders from more than 20 countries and 10 international organizations will converge for the high-profile event.

    The agenda includes keynote speeches, a welcome banquet, and discussions on pressing global and regional issues. In addition, bilateral meetings will be held on the sidelines to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation.

    Delegates are also expected to sign a declaration and endorse a new 10-year development strategy, reflecting SCO’s evolving role in addressing security, economic, and cultural challenges.

    Founded in 2001 in Shanghai, the SCO has grown into a key regional intergovernmental body promoting stability, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation.

    The 2025 summit is expected to showcase China’s leadership in advancing multilateralism and sustainable development, while offering a platform for members to coordinate on emerging issues.

    With an expanded agenda and record participation, the Tianjin meeting will be closely watched as a milestone in SCO’s growth and global influence.
