Kenyan companies invested heavily abroad in 2023, holding Sh894.2 billion in foreign assets, a 36.8 per cent increase from the previous year, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.
Uganda topped the list with Sh104.62 billion, followed closely by Ethiopia at Sh101.86 billion and Tanzania at Sh96.7 billion.
The United States attracted Sh79.8 billion, while the Democratic Republic of the Congo received Sh71.82 billion.
Other key destinations included the United Kingdom (Sh70.27 billion), Mauritius (Sh59.93 billion), South Africa (Sh37.13 billion), and the United Arab Emirates (Sh35.15 billion), reflecting Kenya’s expanding economic footprint across Africa and beyond.
