In Summary

The latest survey by the Communication Authority of Kenya and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, based on the 2023/2024 Kenya Housing Survey, reveals interesting patterns in internet usage across different age groups and genders.

The highest proportion of users falls in the 25–34 age group, with usage peaking at 64.0% for males and 54.5% for females.

Young adults aged 15–24 also show high engagement, while children aged 3–9 record minimal internet activity.

Usage steadily declines among older populations, dropping sharply from the age of 55 onwards. Men generally have a slightly higher usage rate than women in most age brackets.

The data highlights Kenya’s youthful digital engagement and the gradual decline in internet adoption with age.

This trend underscores the importance of targeted digital literacy and access initiatives, especially for older demographics, to ensure inclusivity in the country’s growing digital economy.
