A proposal by NACADA under a new policy aims to ban alcohol consumption in several public places to curb alcohol abuse and protect public health.

The list of locations includes public beaches, parks, amusement parks, and petrol stations.

Other areas are recreational facilities, medical facilities, sports facilities, bus parks, and bus stops.

The proposal also targets railway stations, ferry stations, piers, along highways, and restaurants.

Additionally, it suggests banning consumption in restaurants and dining areas within members' clubs and hotels, as well as basic, tertiary, and higher learning institutions.

The minimum legal age for handling, purchasing, consuming, and selling alcohol is proposed to be raised to 21 years.
