The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has proposed a ban on alcohol sales in specific areas as part of efforts to curb public alcohol abuse.
The proposed ban includes vending machines, supermarkets, public transport hubs, online platforms, restaurants, and even residential areas.
Notably, alcohol sales would also be prohibited near institutions of learning and outlets targeting children.
In addition, NACADA has recommended raising the minimum legal age for handling, purchasing, consuming, and selling alcohol to 21 years.
The proposals are part of a broader strategy to reduce harmful alcohol consumption and protect vulnerable populations.
