    Kenya recorded a total of 80,132 marriages between 2020 and 2024.

    Marriage registrations rose steadily from 2020, peaking in 2023 with 20,600 marriages, before dipping to 15,045 in 2024.

    Nairobi led in 2024 with 5,826 marriages, accounting for 39.6% of all marriages that year.

    Over the five years, Christian and Civil marriages were the most registered, while Customary marriages were the least.

    Nairobi County posted the highest numbers of both Christian (22,210) and Civil (9,322) marriages.

    In contrast, Wajir County recorded only 8 Christian marriages and registered no Civil marriages.

    The data reveals shifting marriage patterns and a possible decline in 2024 due to societal, economic, or administrative factors.

    The trends were sourced from the Kenya Vital Statistics Report 2024 by Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and offer insights into regional and national preferences in marriage types and registration trends.
