Kenya’s price has spiked by 7.3% month-on-month to USD 1261/MT, making it the highest in the region.
Similarly, Tanzania’s rice has increased by 3% partly attributed to currency appreciation and rising demand from the region.
Conversely, Rwanda’s prices remained moderate with negligible price increases, like South Sudan at USD 1055/MT and USD632/MT respectively.
It is worth noting that despite the ongoing macroeconomic instabilities, South Sudan has the lowest-priced rice in the region, even lower than Tanzania.
