Niger leads African countries with the highest crude birth rate (CBR) in 2024, recording 46.6 live births per 1,000 people, according to Statista.
Angola (41.1), Benin (40.3), Mali (40), and Uganda (39.6) round out the top five.
Chad and the Democratic Republic of Congo both stand at 39.2, while Somalia, Mozambique, and South Sudan complete the top 10.
CBR measures the number of live births per 1,000 people in a year and is termed “crude” because it reflects the entire population, not just women of childbearing age.
