On July 9, 2025, President William Ruto addressed the nation from Kilimani, Nairobi, asserting his resolve against ongoing violent protests.
He declared that rivals would not unconstitutionally remove him from power, urging opponents to prepare manifestos for the 2027 elections rather than seeking shortcuts.
Ruto questioned why chaos was rampant during his tenure, unlike during the Kibaki and Uhuru administrations.
He emphasised that the government would not tolerate criminal activity disguised as protest, warning that sponsors of violence would be pursued.
The President also stated that police should shoot individuals posing as protesters in the leg, indicating a firm stance against disruption.
