The World Health Statistics 2025 report by the World Health Organization highlights several critical health challenges facing Africa.
According to the report, Africa faces a projected shortfall of 11.1 million health workers by 2030.
The report said Non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and hypertension, now account for 37 per cent of deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, driven by lifestyle changes and pollution.
The report further said obesity rates are escalating in Africa.
It says cultural perceptions are contributing to rising obesity rates and related health issues such as diabetes and hypertension.
