Update on measles outbreak in Kenya/ROSA MUMANYI

Kenya is currently facing a deadly measles outbreak, with 1,526 cases reported since 2023, data from the National Vaccines and Immunisation Programme shows.

According to the programme, just two doses of the measles vaccine can prevent such outbreaks and protect communities.

Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus.

It spreads easily when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes, and can cause severe disease, complications, and even death.

This is especially for children aged below five years and people with severely weakened immune systems.
