China is the top exporter of used clothing to Kenya, accounting for over half of Kenya's $183 million imports in 2023, valued at $96.1 million.
The United States ranks second at $19.4 million, followed by Pakistan at $14.9 million. Other significant exporters include Canada ($8.6m), the UAE ($7.29m), the UK ($7.12m), Germany ($5.51m), Poland ($3.39m), Lithuania ($3.14m), and India ($3.14m).
This data from KNBS highlights China's dominant role in Kenya's "Mitumba" business and the diverse range of countries involved in supplying second-hand clothes to the Kenyan market.
