Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death in children and adolescents aged five to19 years worldwide.
According to Unicef, many of these deaths were preventable.
Unicef says that it is never too early to start teaching your children about road safety.
It further notes that teens are driven to seek more thrills than children and adults.
Unicef says that while this is a natural part of their development, it can lead to more dangerous risk taking.
It advises that parents talk to their teens about safety tips to help them make smart choices when they are not around to supervise.
