DP William Ruto's retirement benefits

The law states that Uhuru and Ruto shall be expected to play advisory role to the government

Should DP William Ruto lose the August 9 presidential vote, he will have a fat package to assuage his feelings of defeat.

Ruto will take home Sh29.4 million in lump sum payments, and a monthly pension of Sh981,750 for the rest of his life.

The DP will also get a monthly fuel allowance and full medical and hospital cover, providing for local and overseas treatment, “with a reputable insurance company".

“A retired Deputy President shall be entitled during his or her lifetime to two saloon vehicles of an engine capacity not exceeding 2,000cc which shall be replaceable once every four years,” the Act states.
