The National Assembly has flagged as fake a letter claiming that eight persons have been nominated for the position of Cabinet Secretaries.
The letter, allegedly from the Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge to EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, went viral on social media raising speculations.
The EACC was required to review the backgrounds of the eight listed persons “in accordance with the legal standards of high-ranking office”.
The eight listed persons were Former Governor Charity Ngilu, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Christine Pratt Kenyatta, Jeniffer Shamala, Former CS Mutahi Kagwe, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, activist Morara Kebaso and EALA MP Kanini Kega.

The Star Fact-Checker however reached out to the National Assembly for verification of the claims during which it was established the letter was fake.
The House said the letter should be treated “with contempt and disdain”, noting that it's obviously fake since no official communication regarding any new cabinet nomination has reached the National Assembly.
“This list has not come through any official channels within the National Assembly, and we urge the public to disregard it, as no formal communication or announcement has been issued by the Office of the President,” a statement from the Nationa Assembly Speaker’s office stated.
The Speakers' Office, responsible for managing communications between Parliament and the Executive, reiterated the need to rely on official sources for government appointments.
The House Leadership emphasized that should there be any such communication, it will follow the normal channels to reach the public and media.
