A gazette notice doing rounds on social media purporting that Monday has been declared a national holiday is fake.
The fake gazette notice declared Monday a national holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-fitr to mark the end of Ramadhan.
" It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Public Holidays Act, declares Monday, 24th April shall be a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-fitr," the gazette notice read.
The fake gazette notice was even undersigned to Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
The Star reached out to Kindiki's communication team who verified that the gazette notice is fake.
"The gazette notice is fake. The holiday won't be on Monday. Ignore," Kindiki's communications team said.
The Ministry on Wednesday released a gazette notice which placed Eid-ul-fitr celebrations for Friday, April 21.
