Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had a busy week that climaxed with a significant milestone that saw him and his boss William Ruto officially receive the National Dialogue Committee Report.

The Friday event at State House was a major turning point for Gachagua who had previously criticized and blasted the bipartisan committee saying it was a waste of time.

The report is expected to be implemented by the enactment of at least nine Bills which have been prepared and are now in Parliament for processing by the bicameral house.

Earlier in the day, Gachagua joined President Ruto in Embu for the celebration of the Internal Women’s Day.

He said the Kenyan Woman was being celebrated for her outstanding daily dedication and sacrifice that she makes for the country.

“ We cannot pay her enough,’’ Gachagua said.

Thursday

On Thursday, Gachagua held a meeting with the Nairobi Rivers Commission led by Chairperson, Pamela Olet, to discuss the progress of the team’s work.

The Chief of Strategy and Execution in the Executive Office of the President Adan Mohamed was present.

“The restoration of the rivers in Nairobi and its environs to their former state is on course,” Gachagua said.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, Gachagua was at his Nairobi office where he was very excited to reconnect with Mary Wambugi after many years.

Wambugi was the caretaker of Gachagu’s father, Mzee Nahasion Gachagua Reriani, who passed on in 2014 aged 105 years.

“Mary took good care of my father in his old age. She remains coveted in our family; I have been tracing Mary for years until I bumped into her last week while on a working tour of Embu. I was glad to host her in my office in Nairobi,” Gachagua said.

“I have taken time, on behalf of my family, to thank her for the commitment and zeal in taking care of my late father."

On the same day, Gachagua held a meeting with security officers where he unveiled the government’s campaign against illicit brews and drug abuse.

He said that the trajectory in proliferation and consumption of illicit brews and substance abuse is immensely and negatively impacting the realisation of the government‘s plan of transforming people's lives.

“We are determined to fully implement these short-term, midterm and long-term measures because it is the surest way we can restore dignity to our people and the nation,” Gachagua said.

“It, therefore, does not matter what it takes. It is the right thing to do.”

Monday

On Monday, Gachagua was in Laikipia County where he held an engagement with hundreds of families who have no title deeds.

“Title deeds instill investment confidence and accelerate economic growth among individuals and communities,” Gachagua said.

The engagement was with hundreds of families at Maina Village, in  Laikipia West Constituency.

“ The fact that they have no full land ownership rights, the area is underdeveloped; the people have lived in economic uncertainty for years,” he said.

He said that President Ruto and his administration will address the land ownership matter as a priority for the families of Maina Village to start and live in dignity.

“I thank the Igwamiti MCA Irene Wachuka for uniting the community in seeking redress,” Gachagua said.

On the same day, Gachagua was at Ngobit, in Laikipia East County, where he launched a new Huduma Centre at Makutano, to bring services close to the people at Makutano Huduma Centre.

The Makutano Huduma Centre, which mainly targets the people of the counties of Laikipia, Nyeri and Nyandarua, will bring personalised Government services to the grassroots.

Gachagua started the week with a church service at Ng'arua Holy Family Catholic Parish, Nyahururu Diocese in Laikipia County for Holy Mass - led by Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Mbatia.

He also led the fundraising for the church's development project.

“In prayer, we have come to seek God's mercy and grace as we also give thanks and praise,” he said.

He camped in Laikipia for two days and opened an ultra-modern Mother and Child Unit at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital which will go a long way to give the best treatment to mothers and their newborn babies.

“The best gift we can give our mothers for their sacred duty of bringing forth life is a dignified place and the best healthcare treatment and support for this noble responsibility,” he said.

On Sunday night, Gachagua held consultations with Political, National Government Administration Officers, Security Officers, Religious Leaders, and the Business Community, among other opinion leaders from Laikipia county.

“We have reached a common understanding that we must work together with the community to successfully restore sustainable peace for prosperity,” he said.
