Senator's support for ex-governor in graft probe shocks colleagues

A long-serving senator shocked his colleagues when he went out of his way to support a former governor who is currently a top office bearer in the Kenya Kwanza administration. The pioneer county chief is on the spot for allegedly embezzling millions of shillings during his tenure. But the senator, who had earlier told a Parliamentary watchdog committee that the current governor inherited empty coffers after his successor allegedly embezzled the funds, surprisingly came to the defence of the ex-governor. The senator’s change of position left his colleagues wondering whether he was part of the heist cast for the last 10 years.
