Has a governor aspirant in one of the Nyanza counties backed down in hopes of getting a parliamentary nomination? Well, the MP who was running for the coveted seat on a fringe party is said to have slowed his political activities and told allies that he was no longer interested in the seat. While he has not disclosed to most of his supporters his change of mind, his buddies have claimed the politician has backed off the race. Although his run wouldn't have shaken the county political landscape, his exit would hand one of his former adversaries an easy ride to the county's top seat. There are reports that a major political formation has promised him a position in the East African Legislative Assembly. Call it a season of political horse-trading.

A political bigwig in one of the political formations is bitter. Why? He believes a major political party in his coalition threw him under the bus in the search for a running mate. The man was being fronted by his party for the big job. However, he had also expected 'his friends' in another political party to back him up. Internal polls had ranked him so favourably that expectations were high. However, political shifts in recent months appear to have sealed his future. Even elders who were previously associated with him moved on. The man has, however, remained close to his coalition boss, despite being crestfallen.

A junior ministry official has landed himself in trouble after he issued a controversial statement about an ongoing state project. The official sits in a technical committee overseeing the project but he could not keep some of the recommendations of his team to himself. He leaked the information to journalists and a few days later, the Cabinet Secretary issued a statement with information that said the opposite. Corridors of Power was told that the information from the junior officer was indeed one of the committee’s recommendations but the CS was against it and wanted a particular section expunged from the report.
