A businessman eyeing a county seat in one of the cosmopolitan counties is growing cold feet after realising that word has leaked on the authenticity of his degree certificate. The man known for his big war chest is said to be having dubious degree papers not recognised by the Commission of Higher Education. Several frantic attempts to get the agency's approval through the backdoor are said to have hit a dead end. The man, who has been falsely claiming to have the blessings of ODM leader Raila Odinga (pictured), is said to be considering withdrawing from the race before his education background comes to embarrass him. Tough times ahead for him, indeed, as the battle for the county top post intensifies.

A senior member of a national party is a man under siege. The high-flying politician is in the eye of a storm over his penchant for handouts from politicians seeking to see the party leader. There are reports that the politician has been charging 'access fee' for anyone looking for audience with the party boss. In fact, at one point, the politician is said to have blocked a governor from one of the arid counties from meeting the kingpin for allegedly failing to pay up. With the wave of defections hitting the country, an anticipated high-profile departure from a struggling party may flop. Reason? The party boss has crafted a counter strategy that will see him splash some millions to salvage his national image. A crucial meeting  held on Thursday night at the home of a national leader in Nairobi may prove to be the game changer. Several strategies were drawn and even the figures agreed on to contain the situation. Details gleaned by Corridors show that in the coming days, the damage control scheme will be deployed. One of the earmarked politician has already been approached and agreed on personal terms. Politics is actually an interesting game.

A struggling insurance firm previously famed for handling high-end clients is risking plunging into more turmoil. An anticipated bailout from a foreign investor may not be forthcoming in the next few months. The details may come as a big disappointment to clients who had hoped that they would be paid their claims that are pending for years. Clients are appealing to the Insurance Regulatory Authority to be vigilant and end their financial woes by even liquidating the company's assets. Until when will the clients' pain last? Only time will tell.
