The move by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi (pictured) to appoint Simon Kamau Gikuru as the new secretary general has caused jitters among some members. A source who is aware of the developments has whispered to Corridors of Power that another youthful but long serving member from Nyanza region has all along been positioning himself for that very position. However, the Thursday announcement is said to have left him bitter and he is reported to planning to appeal the decision within the party. He argues that he has stood with the party through thick and thin, he was giving the party a national image and it was time that he was rewarded, but he was overlooked.

A political bigwig eying an elective seat in 2022 is either too mean or just broke. Reason? His ardent supporters are wondering why the politician spends as little money as possible even when he hosts guests at his home. A supporter tells Corridors of Power that the politician once invited a group to his home for discussions about his political ambitions. He says they were not expecting handouts but the the man did not bother to prepare a meal or even serve them tea as the tradition in many African cultures. The group left the home hungry and thirsty after some hours of deliberations.

Did a politician from Western region speak with tongue in cheek when he said that politicians seeking votes from the region must go through a political bigwig from the vote-rich base? Well, it is said the man was targeting a senior politician who appears to have abandoned the said region’s kingpin in his 2022 bid. Suspicion followed the timing of the sentiments as the same was not the case when another popular candidate ventured into the area to hunt for votes. Observers say it is only a matter of time before the big talker is exposed for double-dealing the party bigwigs he was targeting in his sentiments.

The powers that be are understood to have unleashed a scheme to dissuade a corporate giant — one of the five listed as potential running mates of a political heavyweight. Corridors of Power has been informed that the highly connected individuals have offered the shrewd business titan Sh10 billion for him not to take up the offer. The power brokers seem to think that if the man will take up the position, the presidential candidate will stand a good chance of turning the tables against his competitors with a near clean sweep of votes.
