Deputy President William Ruto.

Talk about misreading politics. A former governor and a Cabinet Secretary were last weekend forced to swallow their pride after a meeting they were attending turned hostile. This was after they attempted to criticise Deputy President William Ruto (pictured). The two were attending a meeting that brought together hundreds of residents in one of the counties in Mt Kenya. A source in the know tells Corridors of Power that no sooner had the former county boss spoken, ridiculing the DP than the crowd shouted him down and threatening to storm out of the meeting. The former governor apologised to the congregation and immediately invited the CS to speak. Reading the mood, the CS avoided the subject altogether.

A lawmaker from Nyanza has perfected the art of disappearing from his electorate only to reemerge towards elections. The MP who has a questionable development record always boasts of his closeness to the powers that be in the dominant political party in the region, saying his place is well catered for from Nairobi. With almost 12 months to elections, the politico has started making appearances in his rural constituency with people close to him intimating that he has planned a events in his home area to be attended by the who's who in the party, with the aim of intimidating the few aspirants who have expressed interest in facing him in 2022.

Is the Kenya National Highways Authority aware of a deep and wide pothole that cuts across the road at the junction of Pio Gama Pinto and Waiyaki Way? What city motorists keep pondering is for how long it will take the roads agency to take note of it and repair it.

The growing ties between a Cabinet Secretary and a Kanu politician have raised eyebrows among his (the CS) supporters. The talk in his county, Corridors of Power is apprised, is that the CS could use the outfit headed by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to run for a gubernatorial position in the August 2022 general election. The CS has on several occasions hosted the politician in his home county, sparking talk that he could not be using the United Democratic Alliance party associated with Deputy President William Ruto. Could the CS be fearing competition that is shaping up in his county?
