In Summary

• IEBC chairman has eight bodyguards. Why?

• Constituency official fired by MP over love triangle

Questions are being raised as to why IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati needs eight armed bodyguards. They are with the chairman almost all the time and everywhere. They have two chase cars with sirens and harass other motorists when they are stuck in traffic. Is his life in danger? Who might want to harm the lawyer from Kitale and why? Has he reported to the police? Did IG Hillary Mutyiambai approve the eight bodyguards?

Still on IEBC, a bodyguard of a commissioner has become a power unto himself. He has been issuing orders left right and centre on behalf of his boss. The staff fear him and those who dare challenge him are harassed and intimidated. The policeman travels in the same plane with his boss and fills claims for many assignments. It's not clear whether he is entitled refunds for errands.

If there's a man who has resorted to desperate prayers, it must be a certain Cabinet Secretary. And it has nothing to do with spiritual nourishment. He prays the US government does not release the names of those banned from travelling to Donald Trump's country. Those in the know say the CS and his family were issued travel bans some years back in connection to mega corruption but they have never been made public. The CS has never accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to America or Europe.

An opposition party official who performed dismally in the Kibra poll is frightened. Sources say he fears an internal probe will draw in graft detectives after Sh30 million, part of the party's by-election campaign kitty, disappeared mysteriously under his watch. He is being blamed for the party's dismal performance n the poll. A little bird tells Corridors he has been asking friends whether he should resign from the party post or run and hide.

It’s often said love is the most dangerous thing in the world, as an employee of a constituency office in Mombasa recently learned. Sources whisper to Corridors that the junior officer has been fighting with the MP for a curvy lady. What he hasn't realised is 'the boss is always right.' The feud for the lady led to his dismissal as the MP got rid of his rival in tough economic times.
