DP Ruto William Ruto.

Is a vocal senior House leader so desperate for the attention of DP William Ruto? Well, even though they are perceived as close, how he is portrayed by the media seems to be a serious matter if his protest over a quote in one of the dailies is to be considered. The lawmaker was overheard complaining that the paper referred to him merely as a senator but quoted one of his juniors as Ruto's ally. The legislator even went to the extent of reminding staff of the media entity to keep abreast with the pecking order in the DP’s circles. One can only wonder the extent of sycophancy in the country’s political formations.

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga was likely on point when he directed that employees report to the county headquarters in person to collect their October salaries. To the surprise of many, ODM officials and former councillors of the defunct Bondo County Council were among 'employees' who turned up for the Tuesday activity. Among them was a former chairman of the defunct county council and a renowned contractor in Siaya town who has been trading with the county government. They were with other political activists, hangers-on and goons, most of whom are listed as communication and information officers.

An overbearing Principal Secretary appears to be biting more than he can chew following a recent mishap that put a Cabinet Secretary in trouble. Corridors understands that the recent appointment of questionable people to boards and parastatals was done without the tacit approval of the relevant CSs and senior state officials. The development is said to have caused a wide rift and frictions within the Executive. Some CSs, who were bosom buddies of the PS, have now developed cold feet and ignore the PS's purported orders.

Just who has protected a chief executive of a state agency in the transport sector from arrest, despite the DCI concluding its investigations into procurement irregularities at the entity? Corridors has been apprised that the official has been bragging that he is untouchable and will not set foot in jail even for a day, no matter what pressure the investigative agencies put on the authorities to act. Even as he displays his bravado, the implicated staff at the agency have panicked amid fears they may be crucified to save their boss’s face. Their hope is that DCI boss George Kinoti will not spare anyone when recommending charges to the DPP.
