Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu

Is Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu becoming increasingly isolated? Corridors of Power has learnt that there could have been a quiet order from the Presidency barring Waititu from setting foot near President Uhuru Kenyatta. For instance, while Uhuru and a section of governors rode on the VIP class in the inaugural Nairobi -Suswa train, Waititu was in the economy class. While the governor is said to be longing for a photo opportunity with the Head of State, state operatives are said to be keen to keep him at bay. Reason? Deputy governor James Nyoro is closer and needs to be guarded against the 'enemy' invasion. Call it a humbling experience indeed.

The wealth of a senior official in the Ministry of Health is the talk of town. Why? An ordinary civil servant who used to live in average House in Rongai has moved to a posh home in the plush Karen Estate. The man reportedly built the expansive home without any loan. Those in the know, however, whispered to the Star that the man was at the centre of the controversial Sh63 billion Leased Medical Equipment that Senators have termed the “biggest scam of our time”. However, the man is said to be highly connected with big people in the private sector and cannot even be transferred. One of his godfathers is an influential man in the private sector who is said to have been a local agent of a major supplier in the deal. Corridors will tell you more about these millionaires.

As opposition chief Raila Odinga's ODM party continues to savour over its Malindi by-election victory, a male ODM MP from the area seems to have gotten some impetus to take on vocal Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa. The legislator was considering abandoning his vision of seeking to succeed Governor Amason Kingi for fear of losing to Jumwa in 2022. But soon after the party’s candidate was declared the winner for the Ganda ward by-election, the second term MP who was at the tallying center when the ODM candidate was declare the winner, immediately told his colleagues that he has reconsidered his position. He told his two colleagues that the iron lady he feared was actually ‘beatable’ and that he will soon assemble his campaign machinery.

TWO MPs from Western Kenya nearly exchanged blows in Parliament last week were it not for the quick intervention of a legislator from Murang’a. The lawmakers were engrossed in a bitter argument in the members’ canteen on who between them is more loyal to Deputy President William Ruto. According to a mole, who was seated near them, the two were having lunch when a first-term legislator asked his colleague why he has not been accompanying the DP in his recent Tanga Tanga tours. The other, a long-serving MP, reacted angrily, telling off his colleague that he was aware of his efforts to separate him with the DP. The arguments became louder, attracting the attention of the MPs who were in the canteen. A Murang'a legislator rushed and separated them.
