President William Ruto has nominated Andrew Mukite Musangi as Chairperson of the Central Bank of Kenya.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula made the announcement o the house on Thursday.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order number 42, I wish to convey a message from His Excellency the President regarding the nomination of Andrew Mukite Musangi for appointment as Chairperson of the Board of the Central Bank of Kenya,” he said.
Musangi's name has also been forwarded to Parliament for vetting after he was picked from six candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Musangi is now set to undergo vetting by the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning jointly of the National Assembly jointly sitting with Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget.
Musangi, also a non-executive director at Centum Investment Company Limited, is the son-in-law of the late billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi.
