Kisumu residents have started their Saba Saba rally in the city led by Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili.
Police officers were on standby as residents took to the streets to answer Azimio leader Raila Odinga's call for protest.

Various roads had been blocked as tires lit along the roads with minimal movement witnessed.
Raila had rallied his supporters across the country to mark the historic Saba Saba Day by protesting against the government over the high cost of living.
A number of protestors who were from the Central Business District marched heading to Kachok direction, however, before reaching Kachok, police officers lobbed teargas canisters to disperse them.

Some of the officers in a Land Cruiser followed some of the protestors who fled the scene.
