Japanese Cellato has won the Guinness World Record for the most expensive ice cream.

Cellato broke the record for selling at Sh920,700 per serving ( JP¥873,400, £5,469; €6,211; $6,696).

The ice cream's price tag was dictated by its ingredients which include the rare white truffle grown in Alba, Italy.

The truffle sold at priced at Sh1,984,413.24 which is 2 million Japanese yen (nearly £12,000; $15,192) per kg. 

Other ingredients are Parmigiano Reggiano (natural cheese) and sake lees, which is an ingredient white in color with a paste-like texture).

It is also topped with edible gold flakes and truffle oil. 

The ice cream is made by OMER in Japan.

Cellato comes with a metal spoon handcrafted by Kazarikanagu Takeuchi.

This is a metalwork company in Kyoto specialising in the making of intricate ornaments for Japanese temples and shrines.
