Kisumu residents on Monday took to the streets to protest heeding the call by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
There was a heavy police presence in Kisumu as protesters thronged the town in the morning.
Police have arrested some of the protesters who participated in the demonstrations.
Police stopped the protesters from accessing the Kisumu Central Business District by lobbying teargas.
They in turn hurled stones at the police, prompting them to use teargas to disperse the crowds.
