President William Ruto's mother Sarah Samoei has called on Kenyans to maintain peace and love each other amidst the rising political temperatures.
Mama Sarah said Kenya is a great country with diverse communities, young and the old, but they should all co-exist in peace.
"God loves Kenya and we should love each other and also love our country always because we are one people. I'm always happy when I see Kenyans living together in peace," she said.
She was speaking at the Eldoret police station where she attended a farewell party for Uasin Gishu County traffic commandant Harry Munene who is proceeding on retirement.
Mama Sarah said she always prays for Kenya to remain peaceful and united.
"Let's all pray for our country because God loves us so much," she said.
She urged women in the country to ensure they take good care of their children as the country undergoes many challenges in the society.
Mama Sarah said parents and especially mothers should be closer to their children.
"Don't leave the role of taking care of children to teachers alone. As parents, take care of the young ones always."
The president's mother also urged parents to ensure that all children go to school.
She thanked Munene for offering good service in the National Police Service until his retirement and urged other officers to emulate him.
Mama Sarah caused laughter when she narrated how she was escorted by police outriders from her home to the police station.
"That escort made people wonder who it was in the car but I'm grateful and thank God for everything," she said.
