Anti-President William Ruto protestors on Tuesday temporally called off mass action demonstrations in Migori until Friday.

The suspension of the mass action protests is to allow the eleventh summit of the Lake Region Economic Block (LREB) summit to proceed.

Speaking at a press conference, People's Assembly Migori chapter chairman Charles Osewe said they have suspended the protests because they respect the governor and the guests who will be hosted.

"We are requesting our people to hold on, we know Baba (Azimio leader Raila Odinga) had called for a mass action, we will do it peacefully," he said.

"Right now there is preparation for the summit so we urge our people to remain calm, we will respect this summit, and then thereafter we shall pick it up from Friday onwards."

The summit will be hosted in Migori from March 14-16.

Last week, LREB chief executive officer Victor Nyagaya and Governor Ochillo Ayacko met and said they expected a good turnout.

They said the 14 counties should leverage their potential for energy production for both domestic and industrial use.

Nyagaya stressed the need for infrastructural development, which he said is a pillar to attaining the objectives of LREB.

The CEO who was in Migori for preparations for the summit said among their achievements in the health sector include the drone medicine deliveries system in Kisumu.

The technology-driven initiative, he said, is used to reach remote parts. transporting drugs.

Ayacko expressed optimism about unlocking water transport within the Lake Victoria region.

He said matters blue economy, climate change and sustainable development will dominate the upcoming event.

Migori town has recently been engulfed in anti-government demonstrations after Raila declared mass action countrywide.
